Carson City Big Box, Carnegie deluxe reprint and Golden Geek Awards
11 months ago – Thu, May 11, 2023 at 10:34:19 AM

Back to the Far West

Dear backers, we hope you are doing well and are still very much enjoying playing Carnegie as often as time allows it. We wanted to send you a little update to announce that we are soon bringing back a classic from Carnegie's author, Xavier Georges. You may have seen it on our social media, but we are very happy to announce that Carson City: Big Box is finally coming back! This game has been out of print for quite some time, and this absolute masterpiece of a game comes back with a solo modo designed by Xavier himself, a much-requested custom insert (by the same designer as the Carnegie insert), and some other hard to find goodies.

Carson City: Big Box is finally back!

If you follow the page on Gamefound, you'll get a €5 discount as a follower gift, so don't hesitate to give the page a follow! For those who don't know the game (yet), here's a little description:

The year is 1858. The parcels of land of the new city called Carson City are being sold. You possess a small amount of money and have a team of loyal cowboys at your disposal. You seek to purchase the best parcels and build the most lucrative buildings in town. Will you have the guts to provoke your opponents into a duel? Who will try to snatch the best deals from under your very nose? Will you be able to wisely use the support of the most influential townsfolk? The winner will become the most important citizen of Carson City.

Carson City: Big Box is a collection of the Carson City base game, the Gold & Guns expansion, and the  Horses & Heroes expansion. The game is played in four rounds, and in each one of them, the players choose one of the characters, which give certain advantages. When several players claim the same action, a duel is fought, and the player with the most firepower wins the action.  You will have to carefully manage your team of cowboy meeples, buy parcels of land, build buildings that will help grow Carson City's population, and head to the town council to convert your wealth in victory points.

The game in all its big box glory

You can also check out the trailer here:

Carnegie Deluxe available again

But there's more! Carnegie: Deluxe edition will be available again through this new campaign! So if you know anyone that missed this original campaign and has been lamenting about their life choices since then, now's their chance to get a hold of this beauty.

Carnegie wins Golden Geek Award!

We are most proud to have received the "Heavy Game of the Year" Award at the BoardGameGeek Golden Geeks Awards of 2022. This is a tremendous honour, especially considering all the other nominees in this category. We thank everyone who voted for us, this truly means a lot.

Rest of Europe Shipping Update + US 2nd batch
almost 2 years ago – Sat, Jul 09, 2022 at 05:01:12 PM

Dear backers,

First and foremost, we are very sorry for the radio silence in the comments this week. We talked with our shipping partner several times and pushed them, but this sadly didn't speed up the process. We made very clear that it is unacceptable to tell us multiple times 'this week all orders will be out', without delivering to this promise. This is frustrating for us, but even worse for you, our customers. We didn't want to quote more of their promises, before we got the tracking numbers in hand.

So today, it is time for the good news. We finally received the tracking numbers for 1092 orders to the rest of Europe and we have uploaded these to Backerkit. About 30 orders haven't been labeled yet, since these are larger orders and required repacking to prevent damage during shipping. You can find out about this in Backerkit; if your order has been marked as fulfilled, it is has been shipped, otherwise it is currently being repacked. We did also send out tracking numbers via e-mail.

We know we asked for a lot of patience, more than we would have ever wanted. When we realised shipping via Lithuania, as our shipping partner proposed,  wasn't ideal, the vessel was already booked and we couldn't change this anymore... We will definitely approach this differently in the future, to prevent such large delays. Probably needless to say, but we will refrain from working with this shipping partner in the future. Their lack of communication resulted in a lot of unnecessary frustration.

For the 2nd batch of US orders, we received this update today: ”Our US warehouse is currently relabeling the orders. I'm asking our Ops team if we can request to prioritise the orders. We'll keep you posted on this.” So they are working on it, but this takes longer than expected. Once we receive the tracking numbers, we will upload them to Backerkit as well and send out tracking e-mails.

We hope you will forgive us the waiting time once you have the game in hand, and will enjoy Carnegie for many years to come!

Best regards, Quined Games

Status Update
almost 2 years ago – Mon, Jun 06, 2022 at 09:33:06 PM

Dear backers,

It's early June and in today's update, we will elaborate on a couple of topics. This includes a shipping update (of course!), how we handle missing/damaged parts requests and damage that occurred through shipping.

Shipping update

  •  Australia & New Zealand: Fulfillment was finished by Floship. Against our agreements, they used no fillers in the parcels, which caused some larger orders to arrive damaged. We are busy resolving this, but please understand that this takes a lot of time as multiple parties are involved. Luckily, most of you received their rewards undamaged and are already enjoying Carnegie!
  •  China: Our partner, located in Shanghai, had to close its facility for months due to the local COVID situation. All parcels were ready to ship, but suddenly a lockdown started. We have been in contact with them and they indicated that the situation just improved and the games will be shipped next week. You can expect your package either next week, or the week after. Enjoy Carnegie!
  •  USA 1st batch: Fulfillment happens in two batches, of which the 1st batch contains about 98% of the orders. The shipping process has been finished for this batch and most of you received your rewards. By the end of next week, everyone in this batch should have received his/her parcel. Enjoy Carnegie!
  •  USA 2nd batch: About 70 orders, especially larger (retail) orders and some orders including add-ons, are part of the 2nd batch. There is obviously a delay here and the reason is that we wanted to make sure no damage could arise due to bad packaging. This happened with larger orders to other countries over the past months, what made us decide to have all heavier orders (in terms of actual weight and/or number of extra items ordered) repacked. They finished repacking and we requested an update with our partner on the timeline for delivery. We will get back to this soon.
  •  South America: The vessel to Brazil has arrived and the container has been unloaded. The games arrive in the warehouse of our local partner early next week and they will pack and ship them all in the same week. Rounding up fulfillment in this region is still on track for mid June. So you should receive your package the week after!
  •  Rest of Europe (excluding Belgium, France, Italy, Spain, UK & The Netherlands): The vessel (HMM RAON) was slightly delayed and would arrive in Lithuania early June. However, as some of you already reported when tracking the vessel, it landed in Hamburg (Germany) mid May, then Antwerp (Belgium) late May and is now in Southhampton (UK). We asked our fulfillment partner what happened here and they replied as follows. June 12th is the date for arrival of the vessel in Lithuania. Then it will take 7-10 days for the customers clearance, 3-5 days to deliver this to the warehouse. We estimate the unloading to take around 3 days and then the parcels will be shipped. In short, the best case scenario means shipping starts late June, but in the more realistic scenario, we run into July for this. This is a real setback, please understand that we are as disappointed about this as you are. Even though we didn't make the best choice for fulfillment in Europe, late last year, we don't have any influence on vessel delays. We will deliver your rewards, as we did in the rest of the world, but we are again asking you for patience.
  •  All other countries: Fulfillment has been finished. Enjoy Carnegie!

Missing/Damaged Parts

When you receive your highly anticipated copy of Carnegie, we understand that you want it to have all components listed and we are taking care of that. For the KS edition, 29 player discs is the correct number, since you have a silkscreened custom VP marker as the 30th disc. However, if you are missing any other parts, please fill in the following Google Drive Form: https://forms.gle/4JXUtERDf7qLJyvy5. The sheet behind this form is shared with our manufacturer, as they are shipping out missing parts. When the first missing parts were shipped in April, people reported that they had to pay for customs clearance. This was not as intended, so we put this on hold until we found a proper solution. That solution is now to fulfill missing parts requests via hubs. So for example, when you live in Europe, you will get your missing parts shipped from our own warehouse in the Netherlands, preventing any customs. There is a downside to this, since our manufacturer has to bundle requests, bulk ship them to a local hub and then they will be shipped to you. This takes extra time and we ask you for more patience. Because of the stop on shipping missing parts, we are also behind on fulfilling these requests and those of early May will be taken care of first.

Damage through Shipping

Even though we work together with trusted partners and instructed each and everyone of them to use decent fillers and packaging boxes, during shipping damage sometimes might occur. We are very sorry for this and will find a solution for it. In case of any such damage, please contact [email protected] and attach some pictures of the damage and outer box. This helps us to investigate how this happened. We will propose a solution for this, but please understand that this takes time as multiple parties are involved. For Australia & New Zealand, no fillers were used in the parcels, which caused some larger orders to arrive damaged. Luckily, most of you living there still received their rewards undamaged and are already enjoying Carnegie. For the damage cases, we are busy handling them and won't forget about you.

Card Sleeves

Finally, some of you reported an issue with the card sleeves. We discussed this with our manufacturer and it is no production error. They send us a video, demonstrating the cards to fit in the sleeves. We of course also tested this ourselves and although the fit is tight, with care the cards can be slid in. We admit that it is not ideal that the sleeves are this narrow, but they do the job and there is no need to replace them.

That is it for today's update. We are doing our best to answer all of your questions and resolve issues as they pop up. Our first priority is to make sure shipping out rewards will finish to all countries over the world. In the meantime, we are looking into damage due to shipping and missing parts. Luckily, lots of you are receiving their games in perfect condition and without any missing parts. We are very happy that so many of you are already enjoying Carnegie! We are happy to read all of these enthousiastic comments here on Kickstarter and on BoardGameGeek :D.

Shipping Progress
almost 2 years ago – Mon, Apr 25, 2022 at 01:53:00 AM

Dear backers,

We are reading every comment and do thank you for the kind words and criticisms! There are no wrong opinions, so we are not disproving any here. As briefly mentioned before, we are a two-man team and are both employed elsewhere too. We are passionate board game lovers and started publishing quality strategy board games years ago. We use our weekends to handle logistics, write KS updates and keep up with customer requests and questions through KS, social media and e-mail.

This is no complaint at all, but it might explain why some feel communication is lacking. Be assured that we will answer all of your questions and are working hard on delivering Carnegie everywhere! And today, we have plenty of news regarding the shipping process. Most vessels arrived in the harbor of their destinations. We provide a more detailed update per direction below, as fulfillment is progressing:

  •  The Netherlands & Belgium: The pallets arrived in the local warehouse of our partner in Belgium last week. They have been busy picking and packing your rewards and shipping already started. All packages should be out within a few days from now, meaning that delivery will still take place in April. Some of you reported having received tracking codes, or and some are already enjoying Carnegie!
  •  Azerbaijan, Ethiopia, Israël, Reunion Island & South Africa: Packages to these countries will be send from Belgium as well, straight after fulfillment for the Netherlands and Belgium. Due to the journey these packages have to undertake, delivery will happen in May.
  •  France: The pallets arrived a few days ago with our partner in France (Pixie Games) and they immediately started to pick and pack your rewards. Backers in France should expect their rewards in the first week of May. Note that you could be receiving an e-mail from Meeple Logistics to confirm your address details. This is all good, that is an extra check from our partner to make sure your address details are up to date, so please confirm and let them know :).
  •  Italy: The pallets did leave the Netherlands and are on their way to Italy, but they didn't arrive yet. We are pushing our logistics partner to get a status update. We expect the pallets to arrive any moment next week. Our shipping partner in Italy is ready to start picking and packing immediately after arrival and delivery to backers in Italy will happen in May.
  •  Spain: The pallets arrived in Spain last week. We contacted our shipping partner in Spain and they are preparing pick and pack. No delivery date was specified, but we expect it to be somwhere in May.
  •  UK: We have a date for the pallets to arrive in the UK at ZATU Games and that is tomorrow, Monday April 25th! They plan to send everything out within the same week. Backers in the UK should expect delivery of their rewards either late April or very early May.
  •  USA: The vessel (EVER LUCKY) arrived in the harbour around April 12th and the container full of games went to customs clearance. Taking into account delivery to the local warehouse and the huge number of packages (over 2.300!), please allow this process to take some time. Delivery to your doorstep will start as soon as possible and will happen in May.
  •  Canada: The vessel (SEATTLE C) was planned to arrive at the harbour April 22th. There has been a delay of about 1 week and the new expected arrival date is April 28th. Taking into account customs clearance and delivery to the local warehouse, rewards are expected to be send out mid to late May.
  •  Rest of Europe (over 30 countries, excluding the ones mentioned above): The vessel (HMM RAON) is still on track to arrive in Lithuania at May 20th. No additional information here, fulfillment in June is still on schedule. We are aware this is about one month later than in most of the other regions.
  •  Australia & New Zealand: The vessels (EVER UNITED & KAMOKUIKI V.033S) arrived in Australia and New Zealand on April 20th and April 18th, respectively. Customs clearance is happening right now and thereafter your orders will be send to the local warehouses and fulfilled from there. Previously, we hoped for an April delivery, but mid May seems more likely now.
  •  China: All games arrived in the warehouse of our partner meanwhile and already have been packed. But since Shanghai was sealed off due to a recent covid outbreak, there is an unexpected delay here. Our partner expects that delivery in May is still possible, but this heavily depends on local epidemical restrictions.
  •  Japan: The vessel containing the games is about to arrive, but because of the holiday weeks in Japan from late April to early May, shipping starts mid May.
  •  South Korea: Fulfillment was finished by our partner in South Korea already. Enjoy Carnegie!
  •  South America: The vessel to Brazil is sailing and is expected to arrive late May. Customs clearance takes about 10 days and after delivery to the warehouse of our partner, they will immediately start picking and packing. Shipping out rewards for South America should be finished mid June.
  •  Countries not listed above: Fulfillment has been finished from Hong Kong. Enjoy Carnegie!

That is it for the massive list of directions and countries. We cannot wait for you all to enjoy Carnegie and hear your opinions! This is at most two months away, and for plenty of regions pretty much sooner.
